EcoDisc Technology AG had asked Testronic Labs during the second half of 2009 to subject the EcoDisc to one of the most rigorous and comprehensive media format tests ever conducted. These tests were carried out in Burbank, California and at Testronic Labs' European facility in Hasselt, Belgium.

The EcoDisc was tested in the test bed to analyse its performance in respect to the following :

  • 1. Start Up (SU)
This is a verification that the disc will load and access content successfully.
  • 2. Start Up Time (SUT)
The time taken to perform step one is noted in seconds.
  • 3. Playback (PB)
The disc content is played and observed for 1-2 minutes. This is a verification that the disc plays back normally.
  • 4. Drive Noise (DN)
The disc is loaded into the player or drive. This is a verification that the disc plays with minimum drive noise.
  • 5. Eject (EJ)
The disc is ejected from the player and drive. This is a verification that the disc will eject successfully.

The test bed consists of Blu-ray players, standard definition DVD players and PC and Apple drives. The sample of players used in this test bed represents between 80% and 90% of the installed product base according to the best available and most current market share findings. Testronic Labs purchases US and International market share information annually and updates the player matrix annually to best represent the market trends. In addition to this, EcoDisc Technology has carried out independent product tests in accordance with Testronic Lab’s stringent quality criteria for a combined test bed of 400 players and drives.

Based on testing the EcoDisc on in excess of 240 players and drives and after thorough inspection in accordance to the quality criteria specified above, Testronics Labs have approved the EcoDisc as fit and robust for the purposes intended.

The latest compatibility report (in English) is available in PDF format for download.
